The window
Into the past
Remote control
Fast roll
Roll, roll the barrel
On parade
Khaki apparel
Guns and men
Of great renown
I want the smiling clown
Window…
Past and present intertwined
Some stories much maligned
No, that wasn’t so
What do you know?
I remember well
Sometimes ‘twas worse than hell
Now the music’s fine
In your arms divine
Window…
There’s not much left
For you and me
Colours sinking soon
Into Eternity

I see clearly through your window and hug you from the same side.
Thanks, Jan. Hugs back to you.
Window is a powerful symbol. Beautiful!
Thank you so much, Doug,
Did you write this? So pretty! Thank you for sharing!
Anyhoo, I found your blog through a fellow blogger, and just wanted to stop by and say hi! It would totally make my day if you did the same.. or better yet, keep in touch! ❤ – http://www.domesticgeekgirl.com
Yes, Gingi, I write poetry. Writing poetry and photography are my recent passions. Thanks for your kind comment. I’ve just visited your nice blog and connected with you. Cheers 🙂 Irina
Hi Irina, The window here is an amazing symbol and your line “I want the smiling clown” really made me realize the depth of sadness held within the lines. I’m opening up the window and letting in fresh air ❤
Thank you, dear Chrsty. I just realised I didn’t respond to your lovely comment. Yes, it is a sad poem. Of course, a window can be a bright symbol too, like the window in your comment. 🙂
Absolutely tocuhing and beautiful dear Irina… All my best wishes to you. Aquileana 😀
Thank you very much, dear Aquileana. I appreciate your comment. Hugs ❤ Irina
Beautiful poem! I read the sunwinks challenge and Sylvia Plath’s Daddy, but don’t know where to start writing a poem for the challenge! Will have to think about it.
Thanks, Vonita. SunWinks! challenges are never out of date. As far as I know Doug is happy to receive a response to any of his challenges any time. This poem was for last week’s challenge. But for this week’s challenge you have to write two poems.
I just wrote one called Rain for last week’s one then, I will look at this week’s challenge 🙂
Excellent!
I managed to write one too, it is called Rain 🙂
Great! Have you posted it?
Yes, a few minutes ago 🙂
