Dreams On My Pillow by Irina Dimitric
A collection of poetry connecting two centuries and the Northern and Southern Hemispheres!
Book Summary
This collection offers snippets and musings over my journey through life, from childhood in my wartime homeland to migrating to Australia, connecting the previous century with the 21st century. The poems deal with my dreams and disappointments, joy and pain, the value of forgiveness and gratitude, my love of nature and especially laughter without which, it seems to me, life would be unbearable. Writing poetry and photography help me to make sense of the world and to go on loving life. I love both free verse and form poetry; I learnt the latter from my mentor Susan Budig at Mindful Poetry, who also baptised my creation of a new form of tercet – a tercetonine.
This book is very much a tribute to my Facebook and Gather friends, who inspired me to write poetry on a regular basis, providing challenges and mentoring. And Narrator Australia gave me the confidence to continue writing poetry by accepting my poem ‘A Fibonacci Poem For Australia Day’ for publication. The title of the book is the title of a poem which was written as a response to a challenge ‘write a poem about winter’. But in the hot Sydney summer I could only dream of winter, remembering my childhood white winters in the Northern Hemisphere.
When Gather.com crashed at the end of April last year, I started blogging on WordPress. Many of my Gather friends regrouped on Facebook and some joined WordPress. So I’ve dedicated my book not only to my family, but also to both my friends in the flesh and my cyber friends. I’ve met many talented bloggers on WordPress and I’m so happy to be able to interact with you, dear bloggers from all over the world, and to continue to learn through your interesting posts.
Xlibris designers have done a great job! When the sample copy arrived, I was pleasantly surprised and thrilled to bits to be holding in my hands the first book of my poetry, accompanied by a photo here and there – a book in full colour on glossy paper! ’Yippee!’ I exclaimed. ‘It’s beautiful’, my husband said. ‘I’m very proud of you.’ My late mother would have been proud too.
“Dreams On My Pillow” is available in softcover and e-book format. And if you decide to buy it, I hope you’ll enjoy it. Many of the poems can be read to your kids or grandkids.

Hi, I’m so, so glad to connect with you! Your book looks beautiful, I would love to buy a copy! How was your experience with Xlibris? I am publishing through them as well, it has been and still is quite a journey! Any advice that you can pass my way would be much appreciated please. I live in Castle Hill, but work in the Rocks, it is great! Take care, Vonita 🙂

Hi Vonita, Xlibris have done a great job, but the publishing process was quite difficult for me, mainly regarding the formatting as I’m not that digitally savvy. However, Xlibris representatives were always ready to cooperate with me, smooth out misunderstandings, correct their mistakes and mine. I’d be happy to tell you more. Here’s my email: irinadim@ozemail.com.au
My book is available at Xlibris Bookstore, Amazon and Barnes and Noble. You can find it also on my Page under My Book “Dreams On My Pillow”.
I used to visit the Rocks often. Love that old historic site.
Cheers 🙂 Irina
