Come fly with me!

Come fly with me into the sunset
Over roofs and trees
Beneath orange clouds
And the pale moon

Come fly with me into the sunset
Spread your wings, fly with me
Let me take you to a dreamland
A dreamland where souls are free

I dedicate this poem to Ann Marcaida, a wonderful person and mentor, who passed away yesterday aged only 56. She’ll be sorely missed.

Kookaburra sweet,
you neither chirp nor tweet.
Your laughter is much like mine,
my cackle is much like thine.
We are two sister souls,
one clad in feathers,
the other in clothes.

I’m a budding blogger. Poetry and photography are my newest passions, living in perfect harmony inspiring each other. I like both free verse and form poetry and am quite proud to let you know that I am the creator of a new form named ‘tercetonine’.

What a wonderful dedication. I’m so sorry and I’m sure you will miss her. But this lovely post is a fitting and loving gift. I’m sure she appreciates it.
Thank you so much, Gigi. We’re all in shock.
On the gather FB page one post has a date 1959-2015 which would put Ann in her 50s. I think that is accurate because I know she was older than me.
Thanks, Veronica. I’ll go into edit and change her age.
That makes her 56, still very young.
I love the photos of the bird (yours ?). The poem is beautiful. I like how it switches from the temporal to the “dreamland where souls are free”.
I’m sorry for the loss of your mentor and friend.
Thank you, Robin. It was such a shock to read of her sudden passing on Facebook today.
The bird has adopted us. Comes every day with his mate. Thanks for dropping by and your lovely comment.
I just read your About box. I think it is so cool that you created a new form of poetry. I love forms. I am learning to write free verse.
Thanks for reading my About. Tercetonine is an easy form, unlike terza rima! I love form poetry too but when I have to deal with my immediate emotions, free verse suits me best.
I am sorry for your loss, Irina. This tribute is beautiful for your friend. I am sure her spirit is all around you and this precious bird too xxoo
Thank you, Christy. Yes, her spirit will stay with us forever. She always encouraged us to do better and I was just ready to have her look at one of my poems. In our Gather Group on FB tributes just keep coming. Thanks for your kind words. xxoo
Excellent poem and tribute to your friend… I love this ending verse:
“A dreamland where souls are free”. Hugs, dear Irina, Aquileana.
Thank you, dear Aquileana. I appreciate your lovely comment. Hugs xxoo
I’m sorry for your loss, Irina and especially for one so young. Your tribute is lovely.
Thank you, my friend, for your kind words.
