Last year I was challenged on Facebook by Anita Stewart to write one poem a day for four days and challenge three others to do the same. This was my poem for Day One:
Winter Stroll
Chilly morning breeze
Chilly nose and chilly cheeks
Woollen beanie greets the sun
Squinting, wat’ry eyes
Blink and smile
At the golden wattle
‘Tis the month of July
P.S., July is the coldest month in New South Wales, and it’s very cold today, only 15 C !

Kookaburra sweet,
you neither chirp nor tweet.
Your laughter is much like mine,
my cackle is much like thine.
We are two sister souls,
one clad in feathers,
the other in clothes.

well written
Thank you, Ahsanul 🙂
You folks are upside down. 🙂 ❤
I agree, Susan. Having spent the first twenty-nine years of my life in the Northern Hemisphere I’m still sometimes confused, especially in March, the month I associate with Spring. 🙂
Lovely poem, Irina, so nicely written. I had to smile at your comment about how cold it was in July. Many of our summer days are around 15 C! 🙂
Yes, it’s quite funny that 15 C should be described as very cold! I still remember bitter cold winters of minus 20 C in Europe. Thanks for your lovely comment, Millie. 🙂
We had minus 18 C (daytime!) during the bad winter of 2010-11. It was so cold going on my walks! I really ought to emigrate to somewhere warm. Hawaii sounds nice… 🙂
Brrrrr… Hawai or Sydney! 🙂
Sydney is very tempting, too. I’ve never been there, but I have been to the Gold Coast and Brisbane. That was lovely in November. 🙂
Must have been hot in November. I just accessed your FB page and invited some of my friends to LIKE it. 🙂
Thank you Irina! I’m really hopeless at social media. It took me a long time to start on Twitter and, as I said, my FB page just gets neglected. I really find the self-promotion thing hard. 🙂
I know , I hate self-promoting too.
