Sweet and Sour – Argentine Tango

~

Argentine Tango in Buenos Aires

Your lips are moist and sweet
like a juicy mango
hot and sizzling
is your body’s every cell
while we buzz around
across the floor
the wild precision Tango

Our legs entwined
in teasing half embraces
for split seconds,
our hot faces
yearning closeness
briefly touching

Passion burning
in your stare and mine
till you thrust your arrow
the longest leg divine
to soaring heights
I cannot follow…
I detect your sour glare
the end of our love affair

This poem was composed in 2012 after watching Dancing with the Stars Australia on Chanel 7 and was published in Twisted Shorties II, an anthology of Gather writers and poets, available on Smashwords free of charge. The 2017 edition of the poem contains an important change in the last line of the second stanza: briefly instead of never.

WOW! They took my breath away.

Well, if you now feel in the mood to tango, just google Argentine tango and join Argentine tango classes, workshops and milongas (tango social dances).

Milonga is also a name of a tango style:

There are many different tango styles. You can learn basic tango steps right now:

Vamos a bailar! If only I were 30 years younger!!! 😦

Have a wonderful weekend! ❤ It’s good to be back. 🙂 Cheers, Irina

I took a tango class a few months ago and it really is seductive and skillful 🙂 I’m loving your poem as it brings to it the passion of the dance!

Such a beautiful poem and beautiful tribute to argentine tango… I am touched, given that I am argentine. 😉 Anyway, I only took a few tango lessons many years ago… It is a complex style of dance, I believe. This is a performance I recently watched on TV (a show which is a sort of Dancing with the stars in Argentina, It´s called Showmatch). I had sent this one to Christy Birmingham, who has commented here too 😉 ) They are dancing “La Cumparsita”. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_N6_sV8cG4 Love & best wishes, my friend. 😀 ❤

Yes, the first video certainly has the ‘Wow’ factor. It’s quite beguiling. Like you, Irina, I wish I were 30 years younger. Hope your break was productive and decluttering helped you to unwind, too. 🙂

Alas, I have hardly done any decluttering. 😦 Just enjoyed going out with friends, watching TV , and still surfing the Internet to connect with world news. Plus medical appointments! 😦

Aw, my old fingers just managed to send you a reply that for some reason disappeared in space! (Gone with the tango! 🙂 Wonder where that got to?
I just installed a new program that automatically deletes any profile not having shown activity over the last 3 months, and I was afraid that you had possibly fallen prey to that program? 🙂 The days of having a thousand ‘followers’ that aren’t really there are over.
We’ll not be going down that road ever again, but I’d love to have you onboard.
