  1. I saw some magpies digging for grubs with their beaks today. It was really cool to watch.

  2. Cee Neuner says:

Superb photography. Thanks for playing along.

  3. I was trying to pick a favorite but I just couldn’t! They’re all beautiful!

  4. Aquileana says:

Lovely birds… I think I can recognize the First one (It is the Same one that used to visit your roof, right?)…
All the Very best to you, dear Irina,
    Aquileana 😀

Yes, you’re right. That’s the one and it still comes and sits on the neighbours’ roof, waiting for me to step out onto the balcony to give it some minced meat. Yesterday there were four kookaburras, and once I counted ten of them! All these birds in the photos come for a feed. It’s quite a party 🙂

  5. Lucia says:

Bisous

I love the song of the Butcher bird and the Currawong (or chillawong as we call them in our home). I just don’t like that they come after my canary when he is out catching a little sunshine.

  7. sf says:

That butcher bird is just too cute! Whatta cute name for it too. :oD

    • irinadim says:

It is sure cute and its song is soft and beautiful, but this small bird is a very aggressive predator that literally butchers its larger prey by first impaling it on a branch or securing it in a wedge between two branches in the tree.

  8. pambrittain says:

What wonderful birds. We have a fly catcher making two nests in a recess under our patio roof. Why two, I have no clue.
